Martin was born in the coastal town of Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, but spent most of his childhood in Cape Town, South Africa. He currently resides in London in the United Kingdom. 

Hobbies include keeping fit, reading, travelling, sailing, cooking, property investment and charity work.

Martin is the CEO of BallyMurphy Property Holdings, a privately owned property asset management, investment and development company.

Founded in 2006, the company has grown and diversified its portfolio internationally. The primary geographical scope is real estate opportunities throughout South Africa and the United Kingdom.
